Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Championship clash between Swansea City and Coventry City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Swansea City head into Wednesday's Championship fixture with Coventry City looking to bounce back from their surprise defeat at Huddersfield Town.

Meanwhile, Coventry make the trip to the Liberty Stadium on the back of a 2-0 success against Brentford, by far their biggest win of the season.

Match preview

On the back of seeing Brentford lose out at Coventry, Swansea boss Steve Cooper knew that his side had an opportunity to make a significant move in the Championship promotion race.

However, the Welsh side produced one of their worst performances of the season, conceding four goals in just 55 minutes to deservedly lose out at Huddersfield.

Cooper acknowledged after the fixture at the John Smith's Stadium that his players had been too passive, a reason for concern when having the chance to move ahead of Brentford with two matches in hand.

With Coventry having claimed their most eye-catching result of the campaign, Cooper will hope that Swansea's next opponents are unable to replicate their performance from the weekend.

Nevertheless, Swansea must focus on their own display, with the defeat in Yorkshire coming three days after they were fortunate to overcome struggling Nottingham Forest.

Despite remaining just five points above the relegation zone, Coventry boss Mark Robins can only be left feeling optimistic after his side's last two games.

A strong second-half showing against Norwich City earlier in the week was carried over into Saturday's game with Brentford, who were missing top goalscorer Ivan Toney.

Regardless of the absence of the Bees' star man, the Sky Blues deserve huge credit for seeing off the promotion contenders with the added bonus of a clean sheet, their second in four games after also shutting out Watford.

With just two goals being conceded in matches against the division's top three since the start of the month, Robins will see no reason why that record cannot be maintained on Wednesday.

Team News

Cooper is expected to hand a recall to defender Ben Cabango, while playmaker Yan Dhanda could also come back into the Swansea XI.

Despite being withdrawn at half time against Huddersfield, Jamal Lowe is likely to keep his place ahead of Jordan Morris.

Barring any late fitness issues, Coventry boss Robins will likely name the same side which started the game against Brentford.

Matty James is an alternative in midfield if Robins opts against taking any risks on Liam Kelly, who has recently returned from injury.

Swansea City possible starting lineup:
Woodman; Cabango, Bennett, Guehi; Roberts, Fulton, Hourihane, Bidwell; Dhanda; Ayew, Lowe

Coventry City possible starting lineup:
Wilson; Hyam, McFadzean, Ostigard; Da Costa, Kelly, Hamer, McCallum; O'Hare; Walker, Biamou

We say: Swansea City 2-1 Coventry City

Feeling that their hosts are fragile after the weekend's results, we expect Coventry to go all out for another surprise win. Nevertheless, Cooper's side will look to dominate the ball in a bid to get back on track, and they could gradually wear down opponents who still have several defeats in their short-term memory.
