Kyle Bartley cancels out a goal from Nick Blackman to give Swansea City a 1-1 draw with Reading in a pre-season friendly.

Reading and Swansea City have shared a 1-1 draw after both sides scored early in the second half of their pre-season friendly at Adams Park.

Swansea enjoyed the majority of the early possession against the Championship side, but Leon Britton and Gylfi Sigurdsson were unable to open the scoring with a couple of half-chances.

The Royals started to look more likely as the first half progressed, with captain Danny Williams cutting inside from the edge of the box before slicing the ball towards the bottom corner, only to see his shot go wide.

Reading needed just 40 seconds to break the deadlock after the restart though, as Nick Blackman caught Swansea out with a long-range effort that went in off the underside of the crossbar.

However, it was a short-lived lead as the Premier League side were back on level terms just over a minute later, with Kyle Bartley tapping in from a low cross by Jefferson Montero.

Reading could have moved back in front soon after as Pavel Pogrebnyak rose high in the box to attempt to head in from a Stephen Quinn corner, but the Russian was denied by the post.

Garry Monk's side soon started to dominate possession again as Jonjo Shelvey attempted to set Bartley up for a second, before Nathan Dyer teed up Shelvey, who could only drive wide from the edge of the box.

Shelvey was involved again as he struck the post directly from a corner after his teammates had all failed to connect with it, while Marvin Emnes struck the crossbar to leave the midfielder lining up the rebound, which was parried by the keeper, ensuring that the sides finished level.
