Swansea City manager Garry Monk has played down speculation linking out-of-favour striker Bafetimbi Gomis with a January move away from the club.
Benfica forward Nelson Oliveira will join the Swans on a six-month loan next month, with leading goalscorer Wilfried Bony poised to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations.
In consequence of Bony's form, Gomis has found first-team chances limited following a summer switch to South Wales from Lyon, starting just three Premier League games.
However, Monk says that the Frenchman will get opportunities to shine in the absence of the Ivory Coast hitman, with Oliveira the back-up option.
"I am happy to have completed the deal for Nelson," he told reporters. "I said before that we needed to look at the position, because we need another player to push Bafe when Wilfried Bony is away.
"And Nelson is a very good player. I have watched him a lot, especially since the start of the season, because his name came up in the summer and we have been looking at him throughout that period."
Gomis has scored twice in 17 league and Capital One Cup outings so far this season.
