Team GB's Olympics preparations ended in defeat as they were beaten 2-0 by an impressive Brazil side at the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough this evening.
The visitors nearly went ahead as early as the fifth minute, but Neymar could only slice his effort wide with the goal at his mercy.
Brazil made the breakthrough seven minutes later as Sandro headed in at the back post from Neymar's cross.
Despite some attacking opportunities for Team GB they were unable to carve out any decent chances in the opening 45 minutes.
Instead, the away team doubled their lead on 33 minutes when Neymar converted from the penalty spot after Micah Richards had brought down Hulk in the area.
Aaron Ramsey, Marvin Sordell, Scott Sinclair and Jack Butland were among the players who were brought on by manager Stuart Pearce in the second half.
One of Butland's first tasks was to tip away Oscar's low drive before Craig Bellamy was denied brilliantly by Rafael Cabral in the Brazil goal. However, the striker's effort wouldn't have counted after he was flagged offside.
Ryan Giggs was inches away from getting on the end of Ramsey's cross as the home side showed more attacking intent after the interval.
Brazil came close to adding a third in the final five minutes but Neymar dragged his shot just wide of Butland's far post.
Butland was called into action again minutes later as he did well to tip away Alexandre Pato's close-range header.
