Sports Mole covers all the latest done deals, rumours and gossip from the transfer market on the opening day of the Premier League.

Welcome to Sports Mole's live transfer blog for Saturday, August 16.

With the opening day of the Premier League season now upon, teams will finally get the chance to see their new signings in competitive action.

The dawn of the new campaign will also show managers where they still need to improve, however, with plenty of action expected in the transfer market from now until the end of the month.

Here, we will guide you through all the latest rumours and done deals as they happen.

Morning all! The Sports Mole transfer blog returns for another day as the rumours and done deals keep on coming. The Premier League gets back underway, but that will not stop managers from dipping into the market over the coming weeks.
During the night you may have missed the news that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has rejected speculation that Raheem Sterling is on the verge of being offered a new contract to ward off interest from Real Madrid. The teenage winger is one of the brightest prospects in English football at the moment and will be hoping to further improve upon his impressive displays last season over the next nine months.
One player who has never been far away from the rumour mill this summer has been Sami Khedira. Arsenal have been strongly linked with the German midfielder, and could now be back in for him after Real Madrid reportedly slashed their asking price to just £8m. The Gunners already have a sizeable German contingent at the Emirates, so Khedira would have no trouble fitting in there.
From a potential departure at Real Madrid to the prospect of a signing at the Camp Nou. Barcelona have been very busy already this summer, but their spending may not yet be over. Sao Paulo right-back Douglas is the latest player to be linked with the Catalan giants as the future of Dani Alves remains uncertain.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has an interesting decision to make on Monday when his side face Burnley. He has the luxury of choosing between two of the world's finest goalkeepers as Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech both vye for the number one spot. It is expected that Courtois will get the nod, which could mean an exit from Stamford Bridge for Cech.
Old Trafford is expected to be a busy place over the coming weeks as Louis van Gaal moulds his new squad into his own vision. Arturo Vidal has dominated the headlines seemingly all summer when it comes to potential signings for the Red Devils, but Van Gaal has now reportedly switched his focus to Inter Milan's Fredy Guarin.
So, Manchester United are supposedly looking at other targets for in midfield, and a man that used to patrol that area for the club has had his say on where the team needs to be improved. Paul Scholes believes that Louis van Gaal's side are "crying out" for a new central midfielder.
From Old Trafford to White Hart Lane, where things have been very quiet this summer compared to last season's Gareth Bale-inspired spending spree. Tottenham Hotspur have brought in a few players this summer, but it could well be more about making sure those from last season adapt better than they have done so far. Even so, former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp has been critical of the club's lack of transfer activity.
Right, that is just about it from me this morning! I will hand you over to Sian Cowper, who will keep you bang up to date over the next few hours. All yours Sian...
Thanks Barney. If you're just joining us today, why not start with a look at the stories we've covered so far today with our 1pm Transfer Talk Update.

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to have been in pursuit of Villarreal's Mateo Musacchio. However, this afternoon it appears that the talks between the two sides have collapsed.
It looks like Real Madrid's involvement in the transfer window could be over as Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that he is happy with his squad.
According to reports in the Spanish media, Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin could be heading to Bayern Munich, as Pep Guardiola is thought to be keen to add the centre-back.

One of the ongoing transfer sagas of this summer involves Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneirderlin. The 24-year-old is reportedly the subject of a third bid from Tottenham Hotspur, although Saints manager Ronald Koeman is expected to remain firm.

Thanks Dan! Yes, I'll be with you for the next three hours to furnish you with plenty of transfer gossip from around the footballing World. Will your club feature? There's only one way to find out!
We'll start with Raheem Sterling. The teenager is set to kick off the Premier League season tomorrow against Southampton. However, reports are suggesting that the England international is looking to triple his wages, but the Reds are reluctant to give him too much too young. Read what manager Brendan Rodgers had to say here.
Another team set to kick off their league campaign in the coming days is Jose Mourinho's Chelsea. However, reports claim that the Portuguese is facing a possible crisis before a ball is kicked in their opening match at Burnley.

The People claims that Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech will find out on Sunday morning who will start the season as first choice between the sticks. The Belgian will apparently demand a personal meeting with Mourinho, if he is left on the bench.

Now for some potential developments in the hunt for Huddersfield Town's new boss. Patrick Kluivert (not a typo, I promise) has reportedly expressed an interest in taking the reins at the Yorkshire club, having previously been a part of the Netherlands coaching staff.

The Dutch, led by Louis van Gaal (he of Manchester United fame these days), reached the semi-finals of this summer's World Cup.

Speaking of Louis van Gaal, you can read all the reaction to his first game in charge of the Red Devils here. United lost 2-1 at home to Swansea City earlier today thanks to Gylfi Sigurdsson's late winner
Samuel Eto'o has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool. However, The Mirror is claiming that any deal could be in jeopardy over allegations in France that the player had published intimate pictures of his ex-girlfriend on the social network site.
Manchester City will begin the defence of their Premier League title tomorrow with doubts over the long-term future of keeper Joe Hart.

The England international is reportedly yet to be offered a new deal by City and is now in the final two years of his contract.

More Louis van Gaal news and it appears that the new Manchester United manager has made his presence felt at Old Trafford. Reports claims that that Dutchman has axed three players - Nani, Anderson and Wilfred Zaha - from first team squad activities.
Even more Louis van Gaal news! When will it end!

In this case, Alan Shearer has claimed that United are three world class players away from mounting a challenge for a Champions League spot. The Match of the Day pundit went on to suggest that United loss against Swansea could be a "blessing is disguise".

I'd be surprised if paying United fans inside Old Trafford saw it that way today!

Stepping away from Transfer Talk for a moment. Ian Holloway has called on former club Crystal Palace to give supporters answers regarding the departure of manager Tony Pulis on Thursday.
