Good morning and welcome to Sports Mole's live transfer blog on Monday, August 4.

As pre-season tours start to come to an end, we are now only a matter of days away from the start of competitive action across the globe.

Consequently, managers are now trying to rush through deals and here, we will be keeping you up to date with all the done deals, as well as all the biggest speculation.

That's it from Sports Mole's transfer headquarters this evening. We will be back to bring you all of the done deals and speculation tomorrow as deadline day draws one day nearer. Until then...
Watford have returned to Parma to acquire a second player on loan this summer, with the club using their knowledge of the Italian market to bring in midfielder Gianni Munari on a one-year deal.
Marquez used to play at Barcelona, who are apparently willing to sell Dani Alves this summer. However, Inter Milan have ruled themselves out of the race for the Brazilian full-back.
Hellas Verona are showing some ambition in the transfer market, and seem poised to follow up their loan signing of Aston Villa full-back Antonio Luna with the acquisition of Mexico captain Rafael Marquez. The vastly-experienced defender will return to Europe after four years in the Americas.
Blackburn Rovers are still on the hunt for defensive recruits, but former Sunderland and Aston Villa centre-back Carlos Cuellar will not be joining them. The Spaniard had been training with the Championship club, but, like Jamie Ashdown, has left to explore other avenues. Jordan Spence, who was released by West Ham United earlier in the summer, is still an option for Rovers boss Gary Bowyer.
Thanks Sian. Ricky van Wolfswinkel's imminent switch to Saint-Etienne has left Guillaume Hoarau at a loose end. The former Paris Saint-Germain striker had expected to join Les Verts, but weeks of negotiations have proved fruitless and the 30-year-old is now targeting a Premier League move.
Well that's all from me this evening, but stick around as Joe Fish will be here for the next three hours to keep you up to date with all the latest developments.
One player who doesn't look like he'll be going anywhere any time soon is Philippe Coutinho. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that the club will look to reward the midfielder with a new contract before the end of the summer.
Pablo Osvaldo has been heavily linked with a move away from Southampton this summer. Although he is yet to undergo a medical with Inter Milan, the striker has said that he is "very happy" to be at the club.
Norwich City manager Neil Adams has confirmed that striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel underwent a medical with Saint-Etienne at the weekend. Well, the Ligue 1 side's manager, Christophe Galtier, admits that he is keen to sign the Dutchman.
Birmingham City midfielder Tom Adeyemi only joined the club last summer, and has been named the side's new vice-captain. However, it has emerged this evening that the 22-year-old may have handed in a transfer request.
Radamel Falcao has already seen Colombia and Monaco teammates James Rodriguez make the switch to Real Madrid this summer, and now the striker is being linked with a move to the European champions as well. However, the 28-year-old has insisted that he is only concerned with playing for the French side, and has not been paying attention to the speculation.
Norwich City's Leroy Fer has only just returned to pre-season training following his involvement at the World Cup and his wedding at the end of last month, but the striker has been linked with a move away from the team. However, manager Neil Adams insists that the club are yet to accept of offer for the Netherlands international.
One loan that has been completed sees Aston Villa defender Antonio Luna heading to Serie A's Hellas Verona on a season-long switch. The 23-year-old featured regularly in the first half of the season, but struggled to find a place in the team after New Year.
Chelsea winger Christian Atsu had been expected to be heading to Everton on loan for the 2014-15 season. However, latest reports suggest that talks between the two clubs have stalled because Chelsea are concerned that the Ghana international will not get enough playing time.
Arsenal striker Benik Afobe has had five loan spells in the last four seasons, and the Gunners have announced this evening that he's making a temporary move again. The 21-year-old will spend the season with League One side MK Dons.
Thanks Jack! Newcastle United are thought to be on the verge of announcing the signing of Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow from Nottingham Forest. Although neither side have confirmed the deal yet, Forest manager Stuart Pearce has admitted that he does not agree with the deal.
That's all from me for today, but Sian Cowper will now be with you until 11pm to guide you through all of the latest news and gossip coming out of the summer transfer window. Enjoy!
Leeds United have confirmed the signing of AC Milan youngster Zan Benedicic on a season-long loan. The Championship club also has the option to buy the 18-year-old attacking midfielder when the deal expires next summer.
Burnley have reportedly failed with a third bid for West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson. It was rumoured last month that the Clarets were preparing a new offer for the 24-year-old after seeing two previous bids rejected.
Cardiff City midfielder Jordon Mutch will reportedly have a medical tomorrow ahead of his move to Queens Park Rangers. It is believed that Championship outfit Cardiff have accepted a bid from the R's in the region of £6m for the 22-year-old.
Rio Ferdinand has revealed that both Barcelona and Real Madrid made approaches for his services during his time with Manchester United. The centre-back joined the Red Devils from Leeds United for £30m in 2002 and he went on to spend 12 years at Old Trafford, before he was released at the end of last season.

Jack Rodwell has arrived at Sunderland's training ground for a medical ahead of his proposed move from Manchester City. The 23-year-old midfielder is understood to have already agreed personal terms with the Black Cats.
Michael Higdon has admitted that he is "ecstatic" after sealing a move to Sheffield United. The striker, 30, penned a two-year deal with the Blades on Monday following a brief spell out in the Netherlands with NEC.
Scunthorpe United boss Russ Wilcox has admitted that he is interested in signing Leicester City duo Tom Hopper and Jacob Blyth on loan. Wilcox was able to assess the pair on Saturday as his side defeated a Leicester XI 3-1 in a pre-season friendly at Glanford Park.
Blackburn Rovers defender Anthony O'Connor has joined Plymouth Argyle on loan until January. The 21-year-old Irishman is yet to make a senior appearance for Rovers since graduating from the club's youth academy in 2011.
Afternoon! Let's kick things off with a bit of reaction to Roy Carroll joining Notts County. Manager Shaun Derry has expressed his delight at the signing of the former Manchester United shotstopper following his arrival at the club earlier today.
And that is my second and final stint done for today. Don't fear, though, because Jack Prescott will now be returning until 7pm. Over to you, Jack.
Staying in the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur could be about to part with Younes Kaboul, who is in his second stint at White Hart Lane. According to one report, talks are already underway with Serie A side Lazio, although the two clubs are said to be a little way apart over the valuation of the French defender.
Everton recently spent a rather hefty £28m on Romelu Lukaku, but a report this afternoon has claimed that Roberto Martinez is done spending just yet. Apparently, should Manchester United make Tom Cleverley available for transfer, Martinez will swoop with a bid of £8m.

Having sold Keylor Navas to Real Madrid, Levante have now brought a keeper off the European champions. Pending the passing of a medical and an agreement over personal terms, Jesus Fernandez will soon sign on at the Ciutat de Valencia.

DONE DEAL! A transfer has gone through in League Two and it's positive news for Southend United, who have signed Danish defender Mads Ibenfeldt on a 12-month deal. He recently played in friendly matches against Ipswich Town and Queens Park Rangers.
Thanks Jack and afternoon all. During my first stint I brought you Jose Mourinho's thoughts on Frank Lampard's move to Manchester City. Now, talking to Sports Mole, Lampard's former England teammate - Michael Owen - has given his opinion on the midfielder's loan arrival at the Etihad Stadium.
That's all from me for now, but I'm pleased to say that Liam Apicella is back to bring you the latest transfer news and gossip for the next couple of hours. Enjoy!

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough has confirmed that he is interested in signing NEC striker Michael Higdon. The 30-year-old Englishman scored 14 goals for the Dutch club last season following a move from Motherwell.
Wojciech Szczesny has admitted that he is excited about competing with David Ospina for the goalkeeper's jersey at Arsenal. Ospina, who impressed for Colombia at the World Cup in Brazil, joined the Gunners from French side Nice last month.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he is still keen on signing more players before the start of the season. The Reds have added six new faces to their squad already this summer, including Adam Lallana, Divock Origi and Emre Can.
Howdy! Let's start with a bit of gossip involving Arsenal, shall we? The Gunners are reportedly close to making an offer for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho. The 22-year-old is said to be on Arsene Wenger's radar, having been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea earlier this summer
And that is my first stint over for today. Coming up for the next couple of hours will be Jack Prescott. So, over to you, Jack.
Back in the Premier League and Stuart Pearce, who played for Newcastle United towards the end of his career. It has been claimed that the now Nottingham Forest boss could be about to lose two of his players - namely Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow - to his former club. It has been reported that the duo will cost Newcastle around £7m.
DONE DEAL! Another completed switch in the Championship, this time at Derby County. They have secured the services of Blackburn Rovers striker Leon Best on a season-long loan deal.

DONE DEAL! And Blackpool have indeed made a signing, but it's not Greening that has arrived at Bloomfield Road. Spanish defender Joan Oriol has agreed a switch from Osasuna, who terminated his contract following their relegation from La Liga last term.
News from the Championship and it would appear that Blackpool are close to making another signing. Former Manchester United trainee Jonathan Greening has been on trial at Hartlepool United, but Pool manager Colin Cooper has confirmed that the midfielder has received an offer from the Championship side that his club cannot match.
Time for a trip down memory. Back on this day in 1999, the Premier League lost one of its most prolific strikers in the form of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who left Leeds United for Atletico Madrid. The Dutchman would soon return to England's top flight, though.
