Sassuolo beat Udinese 1-0 thanks to Francesco Magnanelli's second-half strike in Serie A this afternoon.
There were few chances of note early on, but Danilo almost broke the deadlock after half an hour when his header was saved by Andrea Consigli.
Just before half time, Simone Zaza had two chances to score for Sassuolo, but substitute keeper Simone Scuffet kept out both efforts.
After the break, Sassuolo had two glorious opportunities to take the lead, but both Floro Flores and Zaza struck narrowly wide.
With 20 minutes left, Magnanelli gave the visitors the lead when his strike from outside the box flew into the bottom corner.
Udinese could not find an equaliser, and saw Guilherme sent off for a second bookable offence with 10 minutes left.
