It became 3-0 to Francesco Guidolin's side in the third minute of the second half when Danilo headed home Antonio Di Natale's cross from just yards out.
Midway through the second half Giovanni Pasquale wrapped up the points for Udinese, as he turned in Diego Fabbrini's pass from the centre of the box with his left foot.
Cagliari pulled one back in the 80th minute when Daniele Dessena headed home Andrea Cossu's cross from close range, but it was a mere consolation.
