Vancouver Whitecaps have moved up to third place in the Western Conference following a smash-and-grab win at Colorado Rapids.
The hosts were thoroughly dominant for the vast majority of the 90 minutes at Dick's Sporting Goods Park but, while Colorado were repeatedly denied by Joe Cannon in the Vancouver goal, their opponents found the back of the net with their only shot on target.
Jordan Harvey's low cross two minutes before half-time evaded Rapids defender Drew Moor, allowing Darren Mattocks to tap home from close range.
Conor Casey was the main danger man for Colorado but he was twice denied by the inspired Cannon, who also kept out efforts from Hunter Freeman, Jeff Larentowicz and Brian Mullan.
Former Middlesbrough midfielder Barry Robson played 90 minutes for Vancouver following his arrival on a three-year deal earlier this month.
