Camillo Sanvezzo scored a hat-trick tonight as the Vancouver Whitecaps finished their 2013 Major League Soccer campaign with a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rapids.
Vancouver went into their last home match with no chance of making the post-season, but had a striker still looking to gatecrash the golden boot party in Sanvezzo.
The Brazilian made that chase look plausible when he broke the deadlock just before half-time, bagging his 20th of the campaign from close range.
Sanvezzo doubled his tally 16 minutes from time to leave the Rapids sweating over their fading playoff hopes, turning home following a pass inside from Matt Watson.
Colorado crumpled late on as Sanvezzo secured his top-scorer status in style, completing his hat-trick on a night which also saw the Whitecaps bid farewell to Lee Young-Pyo.
