Zakaria Labyad rescued Vitesse with a late goal to earn his side a 3-3 draw in their final-day match against FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie.
The home side took the lead in the 12th minute when Bertrand Traore collected the ball on the edge of the box and curled an effort with his left foot into the top corner.
Traore doubled his and his side's tally for the afternoon when he finished off a counter-attack by firing the ball low into the corner from the edge of the box.
The visitors got back into the match just before the break when Willem Janssen raided into the box and fired a low ball across the face of goal. Sebastien Haller knocked the ball into the path of Yassine Ayoub with a neat flick and the midfielder provided the finish.
Utrecht pulled level seconds before the half-time whistle and Haller was again the provider. This time Bart Ramselaar finished off the move as he fired an effort past Eloy Room.
In the dying minutes of the match, Danny Verbeek fired home from close range for the visitors to look like snatching an unlikely victory, but Utrecht were denied as Labyad pounced one minute later to earn his side a point.
Vitesse will play PEC Zwolle in a playoff to decide who takes a place in the Europa League next season, while Utrecht finish in 11th place.
