It has been confirmed that Ismaila Sarr is going to miss a month of action due to a ligament injury.
The Senegal international was hurt during Watford's 4-1 victory against Manchester United and he has not featured since that point due to his fitness issue.
This has now been confirmed as a ligament problem and he is set to go for another scan in around a month to take a look at how his body has healed.
"Now it is difficult to say how long. In one month there will be another MRI scan. Of course, it is very hard but I have good players and also at Leicester we played well and we must continue this way," said Claudio Ranieri.
"I know Sarr is very important for us, but we have to go over. After the scan, we can say if he is ready or not ready. It is difficult to say yes because he is at a standstill.
"He does not work, he does not make training sessions. In one month we will see if we can start slowly, slowly."
The 23-year-old is now set to miss the majority of Watford's busy festive period of games and it is now unclear whether or not he will be able to participate in the Africa Cup Of Nations either.
Ranieri's team will be back in action on Wednesday when they face league leaders Chelsea, which they will have to do without Sarr.
