Troy Deeney scores in the eighth minute of stoppage time to send Watford to the Championship playoff final at the expense of Leicester City.

A goal deep into stoppage time has secured Watford a place in the Championship playoff final, beating Leicester City 3-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

Leicester made a bright start to the match, but it was the home side who scored first, with Matej Vydra volleying the ball from a difficult angle to cancel out the Foxes' first-leg lead.

However, the visitors re-took an aggregate lead just four minutes later as Matthew James whipped in a corner, which David Nugent climbed high to head in.

The Hornets had several chances to get back on level terms before the half-time whistle, but some strong saves from Kasper Schmeichel kept Leicester ahead at the break.

Ritchie de Laet looked to extend the visitors' advantage early in the second half, but he could not get enough power behind his header to really test Manuel Almunia in the Watford goal.

Vydra netted again the the 66th minute, teaming up with Deeney to slot the ball low past Schmeichel.

It looked like the game would be heading into extra time until Leicester were awarded a penalty in the sixth minute of stoppage time, after Anthony Knockaert was brought down.

However, Almunia saved Knockaert's spot kick, launching the home side on a counter-attack, resulting in a winner from Troy Deeney in the 98th minute.

The final whistle was delayed while stewards cleared jubilant home fans from the pitch, but the result was confirmed just moments later.
