Watford have fallen to a 1-0 defeat against Europa League holders Sevilla in a friendly at Vicarage Road.
The visitors created the first chance on goal when Grzegorz Krychowiak rose to meet a free kick from Denis Suarez, but he could only place his header wide of the post.
Ciro Immobile went down injured during the set piece and after a lengthy delay the Italian striker had to be stretchered off the pitch.
When the match got back underway, Benoit Tremoulinas forced Heurelho Gomes to tip his stinging effort over the bar.
Odion Ighalo then came close to giving the visitors the lead, but his header was touched onto the woodwork by Beto.
Beto was forced into another save minutes later from Miguel Layun's powerful strike, before Tremoulinas saw his attempt tipped over by Gomes, as the teams went into the break level.
Layun had the first effort on goal in the second half, but his volley from inside the box failed to cause Beto any problems.
As the game edged past the hour mark Troy Deeney saw his volley saved by the keeper, before Matej Vydra turned a cross from Juan Carlos Paredes wide of the target.
However, it was Sevilla who took the lead moments later when Vitolo cut inside from the left and drilled an effort into the far corner past Gomes.
The Hornets pushed for a late equaliser, but they were unable to find the back of the net as their final match before the start of the new Premier League season ended in defeat.
