Result: Watford survive Everton fightback

Watford have come from behind to claim a nervy 3-2 win over a struggling Everton outfit in Saturday's Premier League clash at Vicarage Road.

The Toffees began the game brightly and took the lead in the 17th minute through Romelu Lukaku, who caught Miguel Britos and Sebastian Prodl napping and latched on to Gareth Barry's lofted through-ball before firing home through Heurelho Gomes's legs.

Walter Mazzarri's charges picked themselves up and soon had their opponents on the ropes before drawing level close to half time thanks to Stefano Okaka's cheeky, skilful backheel finish past Maarten Stekelenburg from Nordin Amrabat's cross.

The restart saw Everton enjoy a promising spell early on but that soon gave way as the pendulum swung the Hornets' way and, just before the hour, the hosts were in front after Jose Holebas's dipping free kick from the left fell to Prodl, who headed decisively past Stekelenburg.

Ronald Koeman's side went on to capitulate as, five minutes later, goal number three came for Watford, Okaka getting his second of the game with a glancing header.

Just when it seemed like it was game over, Lukaku grabbed his second in the 86th minute when he nodded Aaron Lennon's inch-perfect cross beyond Gomes and into the far corner.

Despite a nervy finish, which included a hazardous spill from Gomes, Watford were able to maintain their composure and hang on for all three points in front of their own fans.
