Zlatko Junuzovic saw a shot saved on 25 minutes after good work from Franco Di Santo in the build-up to the chance.
Di Santo went close himself shortly after the half-hour mark, but the former Chelsea striker put his left-footed shot wide of the post.
The home side had the better of the exchanges in the opening period and Assani Lukimya headed over the bar late on.
