Werder Bremen have held Borussia Monchengladbach to a 1-1 draw in their Bundesliga match this evening.
The visitors looked more likely to score in the opening half an hour, with Lukas Schmitz coming close with an effort after just 14 minutes.
Nils Petersen found space to shoot in the 26th minute, but failed to hit the target with his effort. It was a similar story six minutes later as he again failed to work the keeper with a shot.
The hosts were the first to really test the opposition keeper, doing so in the 35th minute when Haavard Nordtveit went for goal. However, Sebastian Mielitz was equal to his effort.
Monchengladbach did take the lead with just under 20 minutes left of the match when Oscar Wendt found Peniel Mlapa, who made no mistake with his finish.
They were ahead for just five minutes, however, as Bremen restored parity in the 77th minute through a Aleksandar Ignjovski strike after the Serbian winger had been found by Kevin de Bruyne.
Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages as the spoils were shared.
