West Bromwich Albion have gone into the halfway stage of their Premier League clash with Southampton with a 1-0 lead thanks to Marc-Antione Fortune's early goal.
The visitors took the lead after just eight minutes when Southampton failed to deal with a corner. Romelu Lukaku won the corner by forcing a fine low save from Artur Boruc, but the keeper could not prevent Fortune from breaking the deadlock as the ball rebounded off him and trickled over the line.
Boruc was called upon again in the 20th minute when James Morrison released Lukaku but he scuffed his shot, allowing Boruc to get down well to save.
The hosts' first real chance came just after the half-hour mark when Nathaniel Clyne found himself with time and space inside the box, but his powerful drive was well tipped over by a full-stretch Ben Foster.
