West Bromwich Albion winger Callum McManaman has praised the team for their performance against Chelsea on Sunday.
The Baggies missed an early penalty, but they were able to keep Chelsea on their toes before succumbing to a 3-2 defeat at The Hawthorns.
James Morrison scored five minutes after Blues captain John Terry was sent off to close the gap to just one goal, but the team could not find the back of the net again.
"I think we played really well and matched Chelsea," McManaman told the club's official website. "It's pleasing to know we played so well against the champions. We caused them plenty of problems before and after the red card.
"I think we gave them too much of a head start. If you let in three goals in any game it's going to cost you points but you just can't do that against Chelsea, it killed us in the first half."
West Brom are yet to win a Premier League game this season following two defeats and a draw.
