West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis expressed his delight after their Premier League safety was confirmed with this afternoon's draw at Newcastle United.
Victor Anichebe had given Baggies the lead before Ayoze Perez's equaliser ended Newcastle's run of eight successive defeats.
The point leaves West Brom seven points clear of Hull City, who occupy 18th place, with two games left to play, and Pulis is pleased to have their league status assured for next season.
"The lads have got 40 points before we have come here today," he told BBS Sport. "We knew that Newcastle would be up for it today, but we have responsibility to the clubs around the bottom who are fighting for their lives.
"We will try and change one or two things around on and off the pitch in the summer, but we want to keep the same spirit that has held us in good stead."
West Brom host Chelsea next Monday in their penultimate game of the campaign.
