West Bromwich Albion defender Liam Ridgewell has admitted that he is "relieved" to have Stephane Sessegnon in the team.
The Benin international scored against his former club Sunderland in a 3-0 win at The Hawthorns on Saturday following his move to the Baggies on transfer deadline day.
"He's a quality player and we all knew that," Sky Sports News quotes Ridgewell as saying. "We saw that at Sunderland. And getting him to West Brom is obviously good for us.
"I'm relieved to have him in our team because he's a very lively character and every time I've played against him he's been a very good player. So I'm glad he's in our team and not the opposition."
Paolo Di Canio, who was sacked by Sunderland last night, recently claimed that Sessegnon wanted out of the Stadium of Light, but the player has hit back, insisting that he never asked to leave.
