Everton picked up their first win of the season on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

The visitors took the lead with just two minutes played when Romelu Lukaku curled the ball home from 18 yards.

Roberto Martinez's side then sealed the points on 66 minutes as a Kevin Mirallas strike found its way past goalkeeper Ben Foster.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at the individual displays from both sets of players.

WEST BROM

Goal

Ben Foster: The England international's performance was marred by his mistake for Everton's second goal, but he went some way to redeeming himself later on by pulling off a couple of good saves. (7/10)

Defence

Craig Dawson: Was part of a West Brom defence that looked shaky throughout. Failed to cope with the quick movement of the Everton attack. (6/10)

Jonas Olsson: Was made to pay early on as his error effectively set up the opening goal of the game. Struggled to recover after that, with the West Brom fans frequently on his back. (6/10)

Sebastien Pocognoli: Put in a relatively composed display considering the lack of organisation that was around him. (7/10)

Andre Wisdom: Made some good runs down the right flank in the first half, but his influence waned as the match progressed. (7/10)

Midfield

Chris Brunt: Rarely offered the kind of attacking outlet for his side that he has been known to in the past. A possible lack of match fitness also saw him become a spectral figure the further the game went on. (6/10)

Graham Dorrans: Similar to Brunt, Dorrans provided little in the way on dynamism in midfield. (6/10)

Craig Gardner: Showed a bit more energy than those around him, though he often looked frustrated in a midfield that was repeatedly overwhelmed. (7/10)

James Morrison: Barely did anything of note during a poor 90 minutes as he and his teammates struggled to get to grips with their opponents. (6/10)

Attack

Saido Berahino: The youngster ran the channels well and gave the Everton defence one or two things to think about, but poor service from midfield saw him limited. (7/10)

Brown Ideye: Club-record signing Ideye looked out of his depth from the first whistle until his substitution on 70 minutes. Will have to do a lot more than this if he is to win over the West Brom fans. (6/10)

Substitutes

Giorgios Samaras: Gave the Baggies a bit more impetus in attack when he was introduced on 70 minutes, providing the team with more of a physical presence in the final third. (7/10)

Sebastian Blanco: Worked hard for the hosts when he came on with 20 minutes to go. (7/10)

Cristian Gamboa: Got stuck in after coming off the bench late on, but by then it was all about damage limitation for West Brom. (6/10)

EVERTON

Goal

Tim Howard: The American goalkeeper had little to do for much of the match, but he did well to keep the hosts out late on by making a fine double save. (7/10)

Defence

Leighton Baines: Another day at the office for Baines, who bombed up and down the left flank all afternoon with his trademark energy. (7/10)

Phil Jagielka: Had to be alert on the few occasions that West Brom threatened and stood tall when called into action. (8/10)

John Stones: Looked vulnerable once or twice throughout the match, though he generally worked well with defensive partner Jagielka. (7/10)

Seamus Coleman: An unusually quiet afternoon for Coleman, who did not get forward as much as we are used to seeing. (7/10)

Midfield

Kevin Mirallas: The Belgian looked dominant in the opposition half, surging forward numerous times and playing an important role for Everton going forward. (8/10)

Steven Naismith: A superb all-round display from Naismith saw the Scot track back one minute and race forward with his teammates the next. (9/10)

James McCarthy: Despite being part of an Everton midfield that was often in control, McCarthy was largely subdued for much of the contest. (7/10)

Gareth Barry: Kept Everton ticking over by breaking down West Brom's attacks and setting his side off at the other end. No nonsense stuff from the former England man. (7/10)

Aiden McGeady: Ran tirelessly down the right flank, though he failed to do his usual thing of getting involved in central areas. (7/10)

Attack

Romelu Lukaku: Took his goal brilliantly inside the opening two minutes before causing the West Brom defence lots of problems for the remainder of the match with his pace, power and movement. (8/10)

Substitutes

Leon Osman: Took little time in getting stuck into the action when he came off the bench on 68 minutes. Almost found the net late on when his deflected effort was palmed away by Foster. (7/10)

Muhamed Besic: Got booked within a couple of minutes of entering the action for a needless foul on Dorrans. (6/10)
