West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Lassana Diarra is training with the club, with a view to securing a permanent deal.
The 29-year-old has been without a club since leaving Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow in August after falling out with coach Leonid Kuchuk.
Allardyce believes that the former Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder will sign terms at Upton Park soon.
"He is training with us," the Hammers boss told Sky Sports News.
"I think the deal is very close to being finalised and I think, on the basis of where we are at the minute with our squad and the injuries, as soon as we get him fit he'll be a very good addition based on his previous record as a footballer."
The former France international has also played for Arsenal, Portsmouth, Anzhi Makhachkala and Le Havre during his career.
