Former Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay has been tipped as the frontrunner to land the vacant Wigan Athletic job.
The Scot is said to be Latics chairman Dave Whelan's first choice to succeed Uwe Rosler, who was sacked on Thursday evening.
Although Whelan gave Rosler his backing last weekend, the businessman was already compiling a list of potential replacements, according to Goal.com.
Mackay has been out of work since parting company with Cardiff in December last year, but has come close to a return to management with Norwich City and Crystal Palace.
Former Wigan boss Paul Jewell has also been linked with the managerial vacancy at the DW Stadium.
