Wolfsburg have moved above Borussia Monchengladbach into fifth in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 win over Werder Bremen away from home on Tuesday.
Wolfsburg immediately found their range with their passing and managed to pull ahead with the first chance of the game. Junior Malanda met a Ricardo Rodriguez cross to head the visitors in front.
The visitors were not done there, however. Just eight minutes later they doubled their lead through Ivan Perisic, who was found by Maximilian Arnold to finish high and hard from close range.
Against the run of play Sebastian Prodl got the hosts back into the contest with a header from Ludovic Obraniak's cross.
Werder started to come back into the game after the goal but were struggling to test the visitors' goal, with Nils Petersen's saved long-range effort the closest they came until the second half.
The points were finally secured 10 minutes from time with Maximilian Arnold's strike into the top corner from outside the box.
