Wolfsburg have pipped Borussia Monchengladbach to fifth place in the Bundesliga courtesy of a 3-1 win over their opponents this afternoon.
Kevin de Bruyne gave Wolfsburg the lead on the half-hour mark, when he cut inside from the left and drove into the box before curling the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
The hosts threatened to add a second just before half time, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen rushed off his line to block an attempt by Ivica Olic.
Olic came close to doubling their lead after the break, but his fierce effort from a tight angle came crashing off the woodwork with the keeper beaten.
In the 64th minute the visitors were back on level terms, as Christoph Kramer arrived to tap in Raffael's cross from inside the six-yard box.
Wolfsburg retook the lead four minute later when Ivan Perisic headed in from close range after Ter Stegen had blocked attempts from Naldo and Olic.
In the 81st minute the hosts grabbed a third when Robin Knoche planted a header from Ricardo Rodriguez's corner into the top corner.
Granit Xhaka was denied by Diego Benaglio in the closing stages, as the hosts held on to end their season with a victory.
