Kenny Jackett refuses to blame tiredness for FA Cup exit

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett claims that tiredness should not be blamed for his side's penalty shootout defeat to Fulham in the FA Cup.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Kenny Jackett has refused to blame fatigue for his side's penalty shootout defeat to Fulham in the third round of the FA Cup.

An enthralling contest at Molineux ended 3-3 after extra time, but it was Fulham who were victorious in the replay as five successful efforts from the penalty spot secured their place in the fourth round.

Despite being given just one rest day between beating Blackburn Rovers on Sunday and suffering disappointment in the FA Cup, Jackett resisted the temptation to blame tired legs for the loss.

"You can't use tiredness as an excuse," the Wolves boss told the club's website.

"That's just the way the fixtures have gone. You can't both play on the same day and it's been pushed back and that's the way it is, so we get on with it. We don't make any excuses because if you tell yourself you are tired you will be.

"We're in professional football. We're in a privileged position and lucky to be where we are and should enjoy what we're doing. There's not too many moans or groans or excuses as I think on a personal level that would be fickle."

Wolves return to Championship action against Blackpool on Saturday.
