Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Roger Johnson has insisted that Mick McCarthy's sacking is down to the players.
McCarthy was removed from his position as manager of the club yesterday morning following a poor run of form.
Reflecting on the decision, Johnson believes that the playing squad must shoulder a large majority of the blame for McCarthy's dismissal.
"The manager can maybe take five to ten percent [of the blame]," Johnson told Sky Sports News.
"The rest of it is down to the lads. We have let Mick down, the club down and ourselves down."
McCarthy has since been linked with the vacant manager's job at Leeds United.
