Wolverhampton Wanderers ran out 1-0 winners against League Two Oxford United after a Leon Clarke strike in the 28th minute this evening.
Oxford started the game brightly, applying early pressure and counter-attacking the Championship side to earn a couple of corners in the first 10 minutes.
It was Wolves who broke the deadlock though, as a Eusebio Bancessi pass was slipped through to Clarke who dispatched the ball into the back of the net on the half-hour mark.
Oxford responded quickly with crosses flooding the Wolves box, with few chances coming to nothing.
James Henry produced a fine performance with some mazy runs down the right wing and almost grabbed Wolves' second goal after a misjudged bounce saw the winger through on goal, but it was smartly saved by the Oxford shot-stopper.
Wolves held on for a 1-0 win in the pre-season friendly at the Kassam Stadium.
