Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to signing former Birmingham forward and free agent James McFadden, according to reports.
The 28-year-old is currently recovering from successful knee surgery after missing most of last season due to cruciate ligament damage.
McFadden, who left St. Andrew's this summer after the expiration of his contract, has also attracted interest from Celtic.
Despite the presence of other suitors, Wolves are believed to be ahead of the pack and are closest to signing the Scotland international, according to BBC Sport.
Former Birmingham boss Alex McLeish, now with Aston Villa, is understood to be keen on bringing McFadden to Villa Park.
However, following fan protests against McLeish's own appointment after having managed a rival, such a signing could prove difficult.
