Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Wycombe Wanderers and AFC Wimbledon, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Wycombe Wanderers sit in third place in League One, and they will aim to move into the top two when they face AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Both sides will look to extend their unbeaten runs to five games in all competitions after enjoying a recent run of positive results.

Match preview

Wycombe have the same number of points as the top two, but they sit in third position due to a poorer goal difference.

The Chairboys have collect three wins in their last four games, and they will be aiming to clinch consecutive victories on Saturday.

Last weekend, goals from Anis Mehmeti and Jordan Obita helped Wycombe to a 2-2 draw away to Sheffield Wednesday, and they followed that result with another victory in midweek.

Brandon Hanlon and Gareth McCleary both netted in the first half to guide the Chairboys to a 2-1 win against Burton Albion at Adams Park.

That result represented their eighth win in 10 home league games this season, and they will be aiming to utilise home advantage once again at the weekend.

Wimbledon will be looking for their third consecutive victory in all competitions when they face Wycombe on Saturday, with the Wombles looking to finish a positive week in style.

Last weekend, Mark Robinson's side came out the right side of a seven-goal thriller when they knocked Cheltenham Town out of the FA Cup.

A brace for both Ayoub Assal and Ollie Palmer helped Wimbledon to a 4-3 victory, and they followed that fine display with another excellent result in midweek.

On Tuesday, Robinson took his side to Lancashire to face Accrington Stanley with second-half goals from Luke McCormick and Assal helping Wimbledon to a 2-0 victory

That result ended a run of three consecutive away defeats, and they will be aiming to collect another win on their travels when they face Wycombe on Saturday.

Team News

Wycombe could bring Ryan Tafazolli back into the starting lineup, which may result in Chris Forino-Joseph dropping to the bench.

After scoring in midweek, McCleary will start for the third game in a row.

Meanwhile, Wimbledon are without the services of Cheye Alexander, who is still out injured

Will Nightingale is also unavailable due to injury, with the defender not expected to return until the new year.

Assal will be looking to continue his fine goalscoring form after scoring four goals in his last three games.

Wycombe Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Stockdale; Grimmer, Tafazolli, Jacobson; McCarthy, Mehmeti, Thompson, Obita; Hanlan, McCleary, Vokes

AFC Wimbledon possible starting lineup:
Tzanev; Osew, Heneghan, Csoka, Guinness-Walker; Woodyard, Hartigan, McCormick; Assal, Rudoni, Palmer

We say: Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 AFC Wimbledon

Wycombe are a formidable force on home turf, and though Wimbledon enter the contest in impressive form, we think that the hosts will claim a narrow victory.
