Bradford City are leading York City 1-0 at half time in the League Cup, thanks to a Christopher Routis goal.
York attacked straight from the kickoff but Vadaine Oliver's strike was saved by Ben Williams.
After a quiet opening 20 minutes, Routis injected some life into the match when he directed the ball into the top-right corner from an Alan Sheehan cross.
Sheehan, a free kick specialist, had a chance to double the lead just two minutes later, but his set piece was saved by Scott Flinders.
Routis nearly added a second with five minutes of the first half remaining, but his shot went wide of the target.
