Fernando Alonso has insisted that he is "extremely satisfied" by his second-placed finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The Spaniard has endured a difficult few months behind the wheel of his Ferrari, but he was able to put himself between Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton on Sunday to register his second podium of the season.
"I am extremely satisfied, it has been a tough season so to get a podium is always a nice surprise," Alonso is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"We took a gamble to try to get the victory and we got very close. I am extremely proud of my drive and the team and very proud of the result. We need some crazy races to get a podium and we took our chances today."
The Formula 1 season gets back underway on August 24 with the Belgian Grand Prix.
