Lewis Hamilton has recorded the fastest time in the opening practice session for the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The former world champion's quickest lap of 1:40.691 was enough to see him finish the session ahead of Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen, who was 0.152 seconds behind the leader.
Hamilton's Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg finished first in the opening practice to continue his positive start to the season following a victory in the Australian Grand Prix two weeks ago.
McLaren duo Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen finished fourth and fifth, while Jean-Eric Vergne produced an impressive display in the Toro Rosso to end the session one place further back.
Defending champion Sebastian Vettel completed just nine laps of the circuit in his Red Bull, but was only eight tenths of a second behind Hamilton as the first practice came to an end with the German seventh quickest of the drivers in action.
