The 42-year-old is now on 24-under par for the tournament, six clear of his nearest challenger Brandt Snedeker.
Padraig Harrington shot the best score of the day, carding seven birdies, an eagle and a bogey on his way to an eight-under 63.
The Irishman is tied with Ryan Moore for third place on 16-under.
Bill Haas, who started the day in second place, could only manage a 71, which sees him slip down into a tie for sixth.
