Ipswich Town striker Michael Chopra has been charged by the British Horseracing Authority for attempting to fix races with two other footballers.
The 28-year-old, who previously lost up to £2m gambling, has been accused of conspiring to "commit a corrupt or fraudulent practice" under the rules of racing.
Chopra is believed to have committed this offence with former Manchester United player Mark Wilson, Nottingham Forest midfielder James Coppinger and jockey Andrew Heffernen, according to The Telegraph.
If found guilty, Chopra could face a three-year ban from any involvement in racing.
