A woman appeared to take Jermaine Beckford's shirt from the hands of a young supporter after the Preston North End striker threw it into the crowd at Wembley on Sunday.
The 31-year-old scored a hat-trick as Preston went on to seal a 4-0 win over Swindon Town in the League One playoff final.
After being substituted in the second half, Beckford threw his shirt into the crowd and a young boy managed to get his hands on it, but TV cameras picked up the moment when a woman took the top from the child.
According to The Mirror, the shirt later appeared on Gumtree for a price of £1,500, but the ad has since been removed from the website.
The newspaper also reports that the police's Football Intelligence Unit is looking into the incident.
