Tom Lineham has revealed how a series of injuries almost forced him into calling time on his career last year.

The Hull FC star broke both of his legs within the space of a few months which left his rugby league playing days in the balance.

However, having had 10cm titanium rods fitted into his legs, Lineham has gone on to play in all three of his side's games this season, scoring on two occasions.

"It was horrible, very demoralising and really tough for me mentally," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Star. "I thought that if I got one more serious injury I would have some time out of the game.

"When you cannot walk, and you're totally dependent on other people, you don't enjoy life. I couldn't look after myself and had to move back in with your parents. You start to question whether rugby is worth it.

"But towards the back end of last season I got my confidence back and starting enjoying playing again. Now I want to try and put the injuries behind me and do my best for the team."

Hull take on Leeds Rhinos this evening at the KC Stadium, looking to push on from their current standing in eighth place.
