St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham has insisted that his team can still make the Super League playoffs following their defeat to Huddersfield Giants.
The Saints were beaten for a third consecutive time in the Super 8s last night as they lost 22-28 at Langtree Park.
Despite seeing his side slip down the table, Cunningham is refusing to panic.
"The season is a long way from being over. We've got to make the top four and we'll have a crack at it," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"It's a result-based industry and we need to pick some points up, but I thought the response was pretty good. If anything, the effort across the board was too good because they tried to force things instead of being patient and trying to build pressure.
"There were some really good efforts out there. We played a little bit anxiously because we've lost a few games at an important time but I'm happy with the response."
St Helens are back in Super League action on September 4 when they make the trip to Leeds Rhinos.
