Catalans Dragons showed glimpses of their early-season form as they upset second-placed 26-16 St Helens in the Super League Super 8s.
Tony Gigot opened the scoring for the French side, chipping ahead and collecting the ball to race away behind the defence and score. Scott Dureau added the conversion before kicking a penalty five minutes later.
Luke Walsh got St Helens back into the game after a comedy of errors at Catalans's try line let Walsh pounce on the loose ball to score, with the half-back converting his own try.
Louis Anderson put Catalans back in front after crashing through the defence, with Dureau once again kicking the conversion, before Matty Dawson completed a nice flowing move for Helens as he went in at the corner.
Walsh missed the chance to add two points before Morgan Escare pounced on a Helens knock-on to score, with Dureau kicking the conversion.
Ben Pomeroy was sent off for the Dragons in the second half for a high challenge on Josh Jones who ended up needing treatment. Dureau kicked a penalty, though, to take the score to 22-10 before adding another two points swiftly after.
Joe Greenwood got his side back into the game after running a superb line off Walsh to go in unopposed. Walsh converted the extra points before Dureau hit yet another penalty to put the game beyond reach.
The Dragons' next fixture will be away to Huddersfield Giants on August 14.
