A late drop goal from Danny McGuire has given Leeds Rhinos a narrow 11-10 win over St Helens in the Super League playoffs this evening.
The home side had the majority of the possession in the opening spell of the match, but were unable to find their way through the St Helens' defence.
Kallum Watkins managed to break the deadlock after half an hour, but Kevin Sinfield missed the conversion, leaving Leeds 4-0 up at half time.
Joel Moon extended the Rhinos' advantage shortly after the restart, but several mistakes from the home side allowed St Helens to find their way back into the match through a Willie Manu try.
The tight nature of the scores resulted in a scrappy final 30 minutes, with both sides making numerous handling errors.
Manu added his second of the night inside the last 10 minutes, giving Jordan Turner the chance to kick St Helens into the lead for the first time, but the loose-forward sliced his effort wide.
Paul Wellens tries to kick a winning drop goal for the Saints, but scuffed his shot, allowing McGuire to find the target at the other end with three minutes left to play, securing Leeds a spot in the semi-finals.
