Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith has admitted that his side did not perform well to beat Catalans Dragons 24-16 in Super League on Friday night.
Joel Monaghan touched down twice for Wolves at the Halliwell Jones as they moved to the top of the Super League table.
"It was horribly messy and scrappy," Smith told Sky Sports News. "It spoilt what could have been a good game. There was a lack of control and we got dragged into it.
"We are still working our way into the competition. We are going to get stronger and better as we go on."
Warrington continue their campaign next Saturday when they travel to Hull.
