Wigan Warriors ran in ten tries as they recorded a comfortable Super League victory over Widnes Vikings in a top versus bottom clash at the DW Stadium tonight.
Josh Charnley scored a hat-trick to add to his seven successful conversions while Brett Finch also contributed a brace as Wigan extended their lead at the top of the table.
Things looked ominous for lowly Widnes straight from the kick-off as Charnley crossed for his first try after just three minutes.
Michael Mcllorum and George Carmont added to Wigan's early lead before Ben Cross responded with one of two Vikings tries.
Further scores from Paul Prescott and Anthony Gelling opened up some daylight between the teams but Widnes once again stayed in touch courtesy of Joe Mellor's score on the stroke of half time.
However, Warriors firmly asserted their superiority after the break as Finch and Charnley each touched down twice to open up a 50-12 lead.
A Logan Tomkins effort a minute from time completed the scoring as Wigan moved three points clear of Warrington Wolves in second.
Widnes meanwhile remain bottom, with just three wins from 18 games.
