The injury sustained by England captain Tom Mitchell during the Commonwealth Games rugby sevens clash against Australia is not as serious as first feared.
Mitchell was forced off the field in the second half as the Aussies fought back from 7-0 down to win 15-7, finishing top of Group D in the process.
The IRB World Sevens Player of the Year nominee was taken away from the pitch in a wheelchair, casting major doubt over whether he will be fit for the second day of action tomorrow.
However, a source told Sports Mole that the foot injury has already improved and will be assessed again in the morning.
The team are optimistic that the injury will continue to improve overnight and that Mitchell will be able to play some part in day two at Ibrox.
The 24-year-old is one of the key members of England's side, having been the top overall points scorer in the 2013-14 IRB World Series.
England will face Samoa in the medal quarter-finals at 12.50pm tomorrow.
