Andy Farrell: 'Six Nations triumph would be invaluable for England'

Andy Farrell admits that winning this year's Six Nations "would mean the world for our confidence" as England aim to head into the World Cup on a high.

England defence coach Andy Farrell has expressed his belief that winning the Six Nations title "would be priceless" heading into this year's World Cup on home soil.

The Red Rose are one of four teams still capable of lifting the famous trophy with one round of fixtures left to play, along with Ireland, Wales and France.

Each side will have one eye firmly fixed on this autumn's World Cup, and Farrell has played up the importance of heading into the elite competition on the back of a winning run.

"It's the last competitive game before we all come back together for the World Cup," he told the RFU's official website. "Winning would mean the world for our confidence. The belief is there, so taking the next step and winning a trophy would be priceless.

"If [the England squad] can't get excited about this week, they never will in their rugby careers. They're on top of the table. It's a massive game and if they get it right they could win the championship. They should be in good spirits."

England last won the Six Nations back in 2011.
