Exeter Chiefs have beaten Northampton Saints 15-8 in the LV= Cup final at Sandy Park, claiming the first major trophy in their 143-year history.
The pressure of home advantage did not deter the Chiefs as head coach Rob Baxter secured the club's first notable piece of silverware as a top-flight outfit.
The hosts were given the ideal start when flanker Ben White crossed the try-line after four minutes to open up a five-point lead, with Henry Slade missing the conversion.
Stephen Myler and Slade both fired penalties for their respective teams later in the half, as Northampton trailed 8-3 at the interval.
However, Exeter took a giant step toward victory 10 minutes after the restart when Dean Mumm touched down to widen the gap, before Slade's conversion opened up a 12-point difference.
Samu Manoa grabbed a consolation try for Jim Mallinder's men, but it would not prove to be the foundations of a late comeback and the Chiefs held on for their win.
