Gloucester coach Nigel Davies has revealed that the club intends to cite players from Mont de Marsan for gouging following Thursday's Amlin Challenge Cup victory in France.
Andy Hazell was sent off for the visitors in the 55th minute after landing a number of punches on the opposition.
However, Davies is convinced that the flanker was provoked into retaliating.
"We'll speak to the citing commissioner and there will be something done there," he said.
"We can't condone what was done from a Gloucester view, but that was a reaction to what went on before.
"We'll take our punishment but I think they need to take their punishment too."
An early try from Ian Clarke helped Gloucester on their way to an opening 11-6 victory in the competition.
