Gloucester Rugby have survived a strong finish from Newcastle Falcons to secure a 40-33 win in the Aviva Premiership.
First-half tries from Sione Kalamafoni and Rob Cook helped the home side to a 10-point lead at the end of the first half.
The hosts were able to extend their advantage after the break with three tries in the space of 12 minutes.
However, Falcons made a number of changes and got themselves back into the match with tries in quick succession from George McGuigan and Andy Saull.
Newcastle's resurgence continued in the final 10 minutes as Matt Kvesic finished the game in the sin bin, allowing the visitors to find the line twice more, but they ran out of time to complete the comeback.
