London Wasps overcame Harlequins by the narrowest of margins in tonight's Aviva Premiership showdown, coming out 17-16 winners at The Stoop.
Wasps drew first blood in the eighth minute when Tom Varndell scored the first try of the evening and Nicky Robinson converted to put them 7-0 to the good.
Dai Young's men doubled their advantage just five minutes later. Christian Wade gave the Harlequins rear guard the slip and went over, allowing Robinson to notch up his second conversion and make it 14-0.
The hosts opened their account in the 17th minute courtesy of a Nick Evans penalty and were right back in it when Matt Hopper scored a try for the New Zealander to convert.
Harlequins ensured a tense second half moments before the break when another Evans penalty made it 14-13.
It was a pair of Robinson penalties that sealed the win for the visitors, but Evans's third penalty of the evening in the 71st minute ensured it was by the slender margin of 17-16.
