Wasps record a 20-point victory over Gloucester in the Aviva Premiership, the win seeing Dai Young's team move to eighth in the table while Gloucester fall to ninth.

Wasps have beaten Gloucester Rugby 23-3 in a two-try victory, including a penalty try, at the Ricoh Arena.

Wasps opened the scoring at the rain-soaked Ricoh after nine minutes through a long-range Elliot Daly penalty, after Bradley Davies was tackled in the air from a Wasps lineout.

The first try of the encounter came through Christian Wade in the 18th minute.

Wade began the move before laying off to Charles Piutau, who found Elliot Daly, the centre cutting through the Gloucester defensive line before finding Wade who finished the move he started.

Fly-half Ruaridh Jackson added the extra two points from the boot to give Wasps a 10-0 lead.

A Gloucester scrum resulted in a Wasps penalty, which Daly again converted from long distance, before adding his third from the boot with a 47-metre effort as Wasps went into half time with a 16-0 lead.

The second period began with a red card for Gloucester as David Halaifonua was given his marching orders after a high tackle on Davies.

Gloucester finally got on the board in the 48th minute as Scotland scrum-half Greg Laidlaw split the posts with a penalty.

Wasps responded with a driving maul from their pack which resulted in a penalty try being awarded.

Jackson converted once more to make it a 20-point lead for Wasps with 52 minutes played.

Both sides found themselves with 14 men in the 73rd minute as Lorenzo Cittadini saw red for a punch to the head of Gloucester captain Billy Twelvetrees.

Wasps held on to their substantial lead to record victory, which sees Dai Young's team move above their opponents into eighth place in the Aviva Premiership table while Gloucester drop to ninth.
